Improvements and New Features for the DiamondVue and CrystalVue LCD series:

VarTech Systems has upgraded its DiamondVue and Crystal Vue series of industrial LCD monitors with many new features and improvements.

Unlike many of who claim to build rugged industrial monitors, VarTech Systems does not “repackage” commercial grade off-the-shelf LCD monitors meant specifically for use within very controlled environments (home, office, retail), but rather individually sourced or company designed modules engineered especially for use throughout harsh industrial applications which will be used running 24 hours a day, year round.

LCD Improvements Include:

  1. Use of Next Generation Industrial LCD Cell ( We do not use commercial home/office grade LCD panels);
  2. Greater energy efficiency;
  3. Improved optical performance;
  4. Improved environmental performance;
  5. Improved image reproduction;
  6. Wider color gamut;
  7. Higher image definition;
  8. Improved backlight and LCD cell reliability;
  9. Improved MTBF

Electronics – We do not use “commercial” grade controllers, but rather true “industrial” grade devices.

New Features and Improvements for the CrystalVue Display series:

Sunlight Readability

  1. The integration of the latest Light Emitting Diodes (LED) instead of traditional CCFL backlights which:
    • Provides an LED array allowing for light-source redundancy;
    • Provides a no risk scenario of backlight hard failure;

    • Are virtually instant on with little or no “warm-up” common with traditional CCFL backlights;
    • Superior electrical to light efficiency allows our LED backlit LCDs to provide sunlight readability while consuming significantly less power than that of traditional CCFL backlit panels;
    • Provides for improved shock & vibration protection and improved brightness uniformity over CCFL backlights;
    • Provides far greater backlight life expectancy, over 70,000 hours.

  2. Advancements to recycling of what would be wasted off axis light and then redirecting light towards the viewer;
  3. An innovative advancement to the optical stack;
  4. Advancements to the reflecting and recycling polarized light which under normal circumstances 50% of the backlight output would have been absorbed into the LCD and subsequently wasted;
  5. The use of a multilayer, ultra-high reflectivity, mirror-like optical enhancement film that is used as a very efficient light guide and cavity reflector with a reflectivity of 98.5% across the visible spectrum which provides a brighter more efficient display;
  6. Far more efficient use of ambient light;
  7. Improved transmissive ratio of the transmissive field and the efficiency of the backlight(s);
  8. Greater optimized balance between brightness and reflection ratio;
  9. VBOND – VarTech’s unique proprietary optical bonding process is now STANDARD – benefits include:
    • The best reduction of ambient light washout compared with that of any other commercially available enhancement technology;
    • Offers superior ruggedization by enhancing the display durability under vibration and shock extremes;
    • Significantly improves reflective light loss;

    • Increases extrinsic contrast ratio significantly;
    • Eliminates the air-gap between the LCD and the touch screen or protective window which:
      1. Prevents the “greenhouse” effect;
      2. Prevents fogging and moisture build up;
      3. Eliminates any contamination from dirt and/or other obstructive particles.
